How I Train
Every dog that comes through my program is different, so I don't run them through the same fixed script. My approach blends free shaping, marker training, and clear pressure-and-release work, built on a foundation from being a NePoPo Silver School graduate. E-collar work only comes into play after a dog already understands what's being asked of it, never as a substitute for teaching.

Training happens in steps. A dog learns something in a simple setting first, then I add distance, distraction, new environments, and more responsibility once it's ready, not all at once. Timing matters more than intensity: a correction that comes at the wrong time just creates confusion, and a reward delivered too late can reinforce the wrong thing.
Every dog gets evaluated individually. I look at what the dog already understands, what motivates it, and what's realistic given its age, breed, and experience. That's what actually decides how a program is built and how long it runs, not a fixed timeline.

I'll tell you honestly what your dog does well, what's still weak, and what it needs. Before your dog goes home, I walk you through everything we worked on, and you leave with written instructions and equipment recommendations so the training holds up once you're handling the leash. I'm available afterward if something isn't working the way it should.
My goal isn't a dog that obeys because it's afraid. My goal is a dog that understands.
